GRS radial lip seal PTFE
GRS PTFE radial lip seals are a viable alternative to traditional mechanical seals for many applications. They consist of a metal housing housing one or more sealing lips.
PTFE seal lips are flat seals that run radially on the surface of the rotating shaft. Thanks to the research carried out by GMI - FluorTecno has developed a material particularly suitable for the manufacture of such lips, the Guaflon. Thanks to its mechanical properties, Guaflon creates very low friction on the rotating shaft, thus guaranteeing even at very low vacuum levels.
Guaflon also has a high thermal conductivity, which allows rapid heat dissipation.
Guaflon is a chemically inert material which can work also in the presence of strong acids and bases, solvents and hydrocarbons.
In extreme cases, the release of products dangerous to the environment or to people can be prevented by mounting more than one sealing lip, for example two facing the process side and two facing the atmosphere side.
FDA and ATEX certified Guaflon PTFE grades are available for Food&Pharma applications.
